A downloadable game

It's Wordle for the Commodore 64! Featuring both random and daily words.

A list of more than 14,000 five-letter words is supported, the more obscure subset of which is guessable but never the answer.

This is not the first port of Wordle to an 8-bit system (not even the first C64 version) and certainly not the most visually stunning version either. It is fast, though and has the full game crammed into 25 KB. The daily Wordle feature (where you simply type in a date because the C64 has no persistent clock) makes it easy to compete against others.

This was my first project written fully in 6052 assembly, and making a Wordle clone with a bunch of self-imposed programming challenges (as well as completely useless features like leap year validation in the date picker) was a fun learning experience. Maybe next time I'll make something with a little more graphics though:P

The game is provided as both a C64 disk image or PRG file. Both should work out of the box in emulators (like VICE) and flashcards. The PRG can be freely moved around to floppy or tape.

Thanks, nice game. When I was a kid I played a lot of word games like this. They weren't just as well done as this one, the same words often came out. I also included it in my new "Gameplay of New C64 Games from September 2024" video as well as all the other recently released Commodore 64 games.
